Personal Fortune-Telling

A quiet hour with the stars, and with yourself.

About this site

Personal Fortune-Telling is a free service that brings several methods of divination together into one reading. There is no account to create.

Three things that set it apart

1. Face and palm read from photographs

We read your face and the palm of your hand from photographs. If taking a photo is awkward, you can choose one you already have. Photographs are discarded once the analysis is done, and are not stored.

2. You choose who reads for you

Six readers, each with a different manner, and you pick whoever suits how you feel at the time. One stays close and gentle, one says it straight, and others sit in between. The same result lands differently depending on who tells you.

3. A letter you can keep

Your reading can be downloaded as an A4 letter in PDF form. Print it or keep the file, whichever you prefer. It costs nothing.

The methods used

Tarot
Ten cards in a Celtic Cross, read for where you are now and where things are heading.
Oracle cards
Three cards from a deck of twenty-four made for this service, read in three positions: where you are, how it moves, and what lights the way.
Four Pillars
The year, month and day pillars are worked out from your date of birth. The turns of the year and month are decided by the solar terms of the old calendar, such as the Start of Spring, rather than by the first of January.
Name strokes
Four numbers are counted from the strokes of your name. This reading works on Japanese characters, so it is not produced for a name written in the Latin alphabet.
Numerology
Your life path number, worked out from your date of birth.
Nine Star Ki
Your principal star and monthly star, worked out from your date of birth.
I Ching
A hexagram is cast and read for the present situation and the direction it is moving in.
Astrology
The longitude of the Sun is calculated from your date of birth to find your Sun sign. Dates that fall on the boundary between two signs are decided by calculation rather than from a table. We do not ask for your time of birth, so the Moon sign and the ascendant are not covered.
Lenormand
Three cards from thirty-six, read as a line: the centre, what moves it, and where it goes. Lenormand has no upright or reversed; meaning comes from how neighbouring cards combine.
Face reading
Eyes, brows, nose and mouth are read from a photograph of your face.
Palm reading
The life line, head line and heart line are read from a photograph of your palm.

Readings are reference material drawn from the traditional interpretations of each method. They do not guarantee future events or outcomes.

How a reading goes

  1. Enter your name and date of birth, and choose a reader
  2. The methods that need no photograph are read first — tarot, oracle cards, Four Pillars, name strokes, numerology, Nine Star Ki, I Ching, astrology and Lenormand
  3. If you wish, upload photographs to add the face and palm readings
  4. What all of them have in common is drawn together into one overall reading
  5. You can download your letter

Name strokes counts the strokes of Japanese characters, so it cannot be produced for a name written in the Latin alphabet. In that case the reading covers ten methods rather than eleven, and we say so on screen rather than showing you a count of zero.

Schools differ on how strokes are counted. This service uses the stroke counts of the modern character forms throughout. Schools that use the older forms count the water radical as four and the grass radical as six, which changes the result. Some characters have no settled count at all, and where that applies we say so in the reading.
