Privacy policy

Last updated: 8 September 2026

This is a reference translation. The Japanese version of this policy is the governing text; where the two differ, the Japanese version prevails.

This sets out how personal data is handled at Personal Fortune-Telling ("the service").

1. What we collect

The service collects the following in order to produce a reading.

Your name
Used for the name-strokes reading, and only to work out the stroke counts.
Your date of birth
Used for the Four Pillars reading, and to determine whether the photograph readings are available to you.
A photograph of your face
Collected only if you ask for the face reading.
A photograph of your palm
Collected only if you ask for the palm reading.
Your email address
Collected only if you contact us, and used to reply.
Access information
The type of device and browser you use and the time of access may be collected, to improve the service and to prevent misuse.

Feedback on a reading (a star rating and free text) is collected anonymously and is not linked to your name or date of birth. Please do not put personal details such as a name or contact address into the free text box.

2. How long it is kept

Name, date of birth and reading
Not stored on our servers. Held only temporarily inside the browser you are using, and erased when you return to the home page.
Photographs of face and palm
Not stored. Discarded on the spot once the analysis is done.
Enquiries and email addresses
Deleted around one year after the matter is closed.
Anonymous feedback
May be kept without a fixed period, as statistics for improving the service. It is not linked to a name or date of birth.

3. What it is used for

  • Producing and displaying readings
  • Making the letter (PDF)
  • Answering enquiries
  • Improving the quality of the service
  • Preventing misuse

It is not used for anything beyond the above.

4. Provision to a third party overseas

The photograph readings (face and palm) and the writing of the overall reading use an external artificial-intelligence service. For this, your information is provided to a third party located overseas. This is done with your consent.

Recipient
OpenAI, L.L.C.
Country of the recipient
The United States of America
What is provided
Photographs of your face and palm, in each case only if you asked for that reading. Your name and date of birth themselves are not sent. For the overall reading, only calculated results such as stroke counts and calendar signs are sent.
The legal regime there
The United States has no comprehensive personal-data statute equivalent to Japan's, and is instead regulated sector by sector and state by state. It is not among the countries designated by Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission as having an equivalent standard (the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom).
Measures taken by the recipient
The recipient sets out how transmitted data is handled in its terms of service and its data-processing agreement. Please refer to the policies the recipient publishes for the current position.

If you do not use the photograph readings, none of your information is provided overseas. The readings that need no photograph are produced without any external artificial-intelligence service.

5. How photographs are handled

Photographs of your face and palm are discarded from our servers as soon as the analysis is finished. They are never stored on our servers.

The service is built so that it can be added to your home screen, which means the browser on your device may hold displayed content temporarily. That happens on your own device and is not something the operator stores. You can clear it from your browser's settings.

6. Details entered for the compatibility reading

For the compatibility reading you enter, in addition to your own details, another person's name and date of birth. The whole of that calculation takes place inside the browser on your own device.

Nothing you enter is sent to our servers. The operator therefore does not collect, does not store and does not pass on the other person's name or date of birth. It is not sent to the United States recipient described in section 4 either.

The compatibility reading uses no AI at all: the result comes purely from a fixed calculation on dates of birth and stroke counts. There is no need to send anything anywhere in the first place.

7. Storage of readings

Work in progress during a reading is held only temporarily inside the browser on your device, and is erased when the reading finishes or when you close the page. It is not stored on our servers.

8. Use by children

Readings that use photographs (face and palm) are for people aged 16 and over. A photograph of a face calls for particular care, and it involves a transfer overseas. People under 16 can use the readings that need no photograph.

9. Advertising

The service intends to use a third-party advertising service (Google AdSense). Advertising providers may use cookies and similar technologies to show adverts suited to your interests. You can limit the use of cookies from your browser settings.

On Google's use of advertising cookies, see Google's advertising policies. Personalised advertising can be turned off at Google's ad settings.

10. Analytics

To improve the service we use Google Analytics, an analytics tool provided by Google. It uses cookies to collect information such as which pages were viewed and how often.

What is collected
The URL of the page viewed, the referrer, the type of browser, and an approximate region
What is not collected
Your name, date of birth, the content of your reading, or any photograph you uploaded. None of these are ever sent to the analytics tool
IP address
The setting that handles it in anonymised form is enabled
Recipient
Google LLC (United States)

You can refuse this collection by disabling cookies in your browser, or by installing Google's opt-out add-on.

About Google Signals

In addition to the above, we have Google's "Google Signals" feature enabled. For users who are signed in to a Google account and have ad personalisation turned on, this links information Google holds with records of visits to this service for the purpose of aggregate reporting.

What it makes visible
Broad age ranges, gender and interest trends across users as a whole, and counting visits from several devices (a phone and a computer, say) as the same user
What the operator can see
Nothing that identifies an individual. Where the numbers are small, the figures are not displayed at all
Who is not included
Anyone not signed in to a Google account, and anyone who has turned ad personalisation off

If you would rather not be included, turn ad personalisation off at Google's My Ad Center. That is a setting on your own Google account, so it applies to every site, not just this one. The opt-out add-on above also refuses this collection.

11. Limits on providing data to third parties

Except as set out in section 4 (provision to a third party overseas) and where required by law, personal data is not provided to third parties without your consent.

12. Requests for disclosure, correction or deletion

We respond to requests from the person concerned for disclosure, correction, suspension of use or deletion of their personal data. Please get in touch through the contact form.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised in line with changes in the law or in the service. Where a change is significant, we will say so on this page.

14. Contact
