Drawing oracle cards — one card or three, and what changes
updated · 5 min read
One card gives you the line you need now
Drawing one card is receiving a single message for where you are. It does not break a tangled situation into parts; it suits wanting something at your back while you hesitate. It needs no preparation and is the easiest way to draw.
The oracle decks by subject on this service are single draws. For love, one card comes from a deck of twenty-four made for love, and that card is then read at four points in time: today, tomorrow, a month out and three months out. One card shows something different at each point.
Three cards show the movement
The oracle cards drawn inside a full reading on this service are a three-card draw, with the positions fixed as where you are, how it moves, and what lights the way. The situation, the direction and a piece of advice: with those three together it reads more fully than one card can.
| One card | Three cards | |
|---|---|---|
| What it gives | The line you need now | Situation, direction and advice as a movement |
| What it suits | Wanting a push while you hesitate | Wanting a situation sorted out |
| Meaning of position | None | Each position changes the reading |
| How quick | Immediate | Takes a little longer |
In a three-card draw, no card can appear twice. If the same card came up twice in one spread, the positions could no longer be read apart.
May you draw again?
On this service, the same person drawing the same deck on the same day always gets the same card. The card is decided from your name, your date of birth and the day's date. Reloading does not change it.
When the date changes, so does the card. Today's card and tomorrow's are different. You cannot draw again, and you can meet a new card on another day.
Reading what you drew
Lay the message written there against where you are now. When a card does not land, there is no need to force it to fit. Remembering it a few days later is a common enough thing.

Common questions
- How many times a day may I draw?
- There is no rule about the number, and on this service the same deck on the same day gives the same card. A different subject's deck will give you a different card.
- What if I draw a card with a bad meaning?
- The decks on this service contain no card that only leaves you low. There are cards that mean go carefully, and they always come with something about what to do next.
- Can I read without buying a physical deck?
- You can. The oracle cards on this service work entirely on screen. If you own a physical deck, you are welcome to draw from that instead.
